Hundreds of aspiring basketball players ranging from ages nine to fourteen came out to Markham鈥檚 Pan Am Center to participate in a basketball tournament sponsored by three-time Olympic medalist and Canadian track star, Andre De Grasse.

The Andre De Grasse Holiday Classic is an event which gives kids passionate about the sport an opportunity to show off their skills, gain exposure, and, of course, have fun.

鈥淭his is a great opportunity to give back,鈥� De Grasse said in an interview with On Point Basketball. 鈥淕rowing up me and my friends didn鈥檛 really have a chance to have something like this, so it鈥檚 cool that they get the opportunity to do that and I鈥檓 excited to be a part of it.鈥�

Giving back is something De Grasse is passionate about which is why he launched his own public charitable foundation in 2018. The Andre De Grasse Family Foundation is committed to empowering and inspiring youth through sport and education by providing mentorship and resources to kids across Canada. Using 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 fundraising platform at events such as the Andre De Grasse Holiday Classic, the charity has been able to raise funds for its support programs and scholarships.
